Wintertyme Village brings more holiday joy to Kokomo

With beautiful star lights on every lamp post and businesses adorned in festive decorations, downtown Kokomo reflects the beauty and magic of the holidays each year. This year, downtown will be getting even more festive with the introduction of Wintertyme Village at Kokomo Municipal Stadium.

The inspiration came from the annual Christmas Parade, where local vendors set up booths to sell their goods, in addition to the Downtown Farmers Market. Because the parade only lasted for one night, and the Farmers Market operated during the summer, Wintertyme Village was created to allow visitors to support these businesses all season long! You can expect to see these vendors along the stadium’s concourse.

The holiday village will feature several festive activities that families can enjoy. Visitors can enjoy decorating Christmas cookies with Mrs. Claus and writing letters to Santa (last day for activity being Dec. 9). Kids will love story time with these holiday characters, presented by the Kokomo Howard County Public Library, as well as meeting jolly-old St. Nick in his Santa House. ARK Ministries miniature animals will also have a petting zoo on Saturdays and Sundays.

In addition, attendees can enjoy holiday light displays and festive movies on the stadium’s Jumbotron, as well as enjoying delicious hot chocolate while listening to Christmas carolers.  The Frozen Sandlot will also return and become a part of Wintertyme Village.

If you are looking to host an exclusive holiday event with family and friends, Wintertyme Village will also offer a venue for holiday parties featuring Santa Claus and festive backdrops and settings to create the perfect holiday photo.

Wintertyme Village will officially open for the holiday season on Nov. 30 and will be open on Saturdays from 2-7 p.m. and Sundays from 1-7 p.m. The lighting of the village’s Christmas tree will take place on Dec. 6. The village will be closed on the Christmas Parade day on Dec. 7, but you can still catch the vendors on the courthouse square. Admission to the village is free, but you will have to pay for the Frozen Sandlot. Click here for pricing information.
