How to support local artists in Kokomo

Art is what makes our community truly vibrant, especially when it’s crafted by local artists. Here are some of the ways you can show your love for local talent while having fun at the same time!

Gallery experiences

Discover colorful pieces in galleries such as Artworks Gallery, Kokomo Art Center, Bohemian Tattoo Club and Art Gallery, and Kokomo Howard County Public Library Art Collection that feature local and regional artists. You can even find more local talent at the IU Kokomo Art Gallery, where students, faculty, and alumni feature their signature styles. Want to see art outside? Check out Artist Alley for a unique display of creativity!

Artsy events

Stroll through downtown Kokomo’s vibrant art scene as you enjoy First Fridays: events on select months dedicated to highlighting the arts in our community. You can admire local art on display, as well as learn how to create a one-of-a-kind piece with a local artist! In the summer, visit the Artsapalooza Art Market and enjoy live music from some of Kokomo’s finest musicians during the annual Strawberry Festival.

Sounds of our community

Experience performances from the Kokomo Civic Theatre, Curtain Call Theatre for Children, Kokomo Park Band, and Kokomo Symphony Orchestra, with some of the members being from the area! Want to experience local talent in the summertime? Check out the annual Rhumfest: an arts festival presented by the Rhum Academy of Music.

Creative shopping

Take some local art home by stopping in places such as Crystal Wand Creations, Back Woods Trading Co, Kokomo Opalescent Glass Op Shop, and Makers Mart. Treasures from these shops make wonderful gifts!
