Kokomo is home to many wonderful people, and some of those people are talented artists and musicians who love to share their talents and passions with the community. Here are some activities that help support these amazing artists in our city.
Attend a First Friday event
First Fridays are art-based events hosted on the first Friday of select months. You can find some of our local artists and crafts people displaying or selling their artworks and artistic creations, as well as hear local musicians perform for the community.
Visit one of Kokomo’s art galleries
The Artworks Gallery in downtown Kokomo and the Kokomo Art Center are great places to see artworks created by some of out local artists. Explore one of their ever-changing exhibits to see amazing artworks. You can also explore the IU Kokomo Art Gallery to see artworks created by IU Kokomo students, faculty, and alumni during special exhibits. Find a complete list of galleries here.
Attend a Rhum Academy of Music concert
Throughout the year, this music academy hosts concerts that feature their students, faculty, and alumni. In the summer, you can see Rhumfest, an annual music festival in Foster Park that features its musicians and various art vendors.
Experience music or acting from local groups
Kokomo Civic Theatre has many local actors and actresses performing in their plays and musicals, and they offer dozens of unique, family-friendly shows. If music is more your passion, you can see many Kokomo musicians perform in Kokomo Park Band or Kokomo Symphony Orchestra at one of their enjoyable concerts. IU Kokomo’s Department of Communications and Performing Arts also showcases local talent with their choir, band, orchestra, and theatre groups.
