In the spring and summer, downtown Kokomo comes alive with hanging baskets of flowers and plants near every sidewalk. While those plants only last for a few months, there is a downtown shop where plants thrive all year long: Sunshine + Water Plant Bar.
This unique little shop downtown has a variety of different house plants to help bring some vibrant green hues into your home or office space. You can find different ferns, cacti, air plants, and succulents in many shapes and sizes. In addition, they have a collection of plant tools such as pots and vases, watering cans, and decorations.
Sunshine + Water Plant Bar is more than just a plant shop. They offer plant workshops where you can learn how to create a plant arrangement. Did you know there is a technique to grow plants without ever using a pot? Would you like to learn how to make a tower of moss or make a charming terrarium? This shop offers classes to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Since it’s opening, Sunshine + Water Plant Bar has served as a place for locals to grow joy and show off their green thumbs. It has also served as a venue for yoga classes, a Greater Kokomo Chamber of Commerce business, and a performance space for First Fridays, where theremin and singing bowl performers share their talents with the community. It will also be featured in John McGivern’s Main Streets on PBS in 2025.
