A list of Indiana’s great mansions would undoubtedly include Kokomo’s stunning Seiberling Mansion, built in 1891 by industrialist Monroe Seiberling, who came to Kokomo during the Indiana gas boom of the late 19th century and built several large factories in the region.
Over the last 100 years, the Seiberling Mansion has been a residence, university, and today a beautiful historic landmark and home of the Howard County Museum. Features include late-Victorian architecture, hand-carved woodwork, and multiple exhibits throughout highlighting the history of Howard County.
Open Tuesday – Sunday from 1-4pm. Admission $10 adults and $5 for students ages 18 & under. Closed in January.
The holidays are an extra special time to visit the Howard County Museum. “Christmas at the Seiberling” starts the Saturday evening after Thanksgiving and run through Dec. 31.
Group tours are scheduled by appointment.
