5 must-do activities at the Howard County Fair

The Howard County Fair is a summer tradition beloved by all in Kokomo and Greentown. Before you begin planning your visit with your family and friends, here are 5 things that are a must-do for fair-goers.

Watch a livestock show

Howard County’s livestock exhibitors have been working hard all year to proudly show their animals at the fair. Stop by the livestock barn to experience the excitement of a livestock show or just to see some adorable animals! It would be wise to ask animal exhibitors for permission before touching animals, and be sure to wash your hands afterwards.

Take a ride on the Ferris Wheel

The best way to see the fair is in the air on the Ferris Wheel! Enjoy a relaxing ride with your family and friends, and don’t forget to admire the beautiful view! Pro tip: ride the Ferris Wheel during a sunset or at night to see all the midway and food truck lights on!

Stroll through the pioneer village

Take a trip back into time as you stroll through the pioneer village! Experience pioneer-themed activities, food, crafts, and more with people dressed in period-inspired attire and charming buildings.

Watch the Grandpa Cratchet Show

Experience the wackiness of this beloved fair favorite with this eccentric puppet show that is sure to be a hit with the kids! If you can’t watch the show, you can still catch Grandpa Cratchet roaming around the fair in his vintage car! This show runs daily in the pioneer village.

Enjoy musical entertainment

Live music can be found at every corner at the fair. Experience performances on the North Stage west of the round barn with entertainment such as the Abundant Life Praise Band, Medicinal Bluegrass, and Four on The Floor. The South Grandstand will have returning favorite Cook and Belle, as well as Major Danger and other musical acts.

Of course, there are several activities to enjoy at the Howard County Fair. Find a complete list and schedule of events here. The 2024 fair runs from Monday, July 8 to Saturday, July 13. Midway officially opens on Tuesday, July 9.
