It’s almost time for the weekend here in Kokomo, and you know what that means — time to have a totally awesome time!
To help you have as much fun as humanly possible, we are giving you our Top Picks for a Totally Awesome Weekend.

Let us begin …

1) Hoosierdance Film Festival
Thirty-six films from 11 countries will be screened in downtown Kokomo as part of the third annual Hoosierdance Film Festival.
Also showing will be the films recorded during the first 48 Hour Film contest here in Kokomo.
The films will be shown June 8 to 10 at Bind Cafe and Cook McDoogal’s.
Event organizers say a variety of films will be screened, including everything from dramas to comedies.
Yeah. That’s all happening right here in Kokomo. It’s such a big deal that we wrote an entire blog entry about it earlier this week. Read it here … and then go!
Oh, and your ticket also gets you into the Tommy Baldwin Trio show at American Dream Hi-Fi on Saturday. It’s a two-fer!

2) Ribfest

While we are concerned this entry might damage your keyboard or mobile device — what, with the salivating and all — we decided we had to push forward and include it in the list anyway. It’s ribs and music, for Pete’s sake!
As part of the 17th annual Carver Community Center Ribfest, four local barbecue joints will be on hand Saturday battling it out at Foster Park for the best-ribs title.
Ribfest also marks the kickoff of the Summer Concert Series. It’s another two-fer!
Kevin Eubanks Quartet will perform at 8:30 p.m. Eubanks is known for his role as the music director of The Tonight Show Band when Jay Leno hosted, and he appeared on the show for 18 years. The Rob Dixon Trio, the Indy Jazz Fest and Jazz Foundation will also perform at the event.

3) Scholarship Supper & Show
The Larison Company is hosting an event at The Wildcat and The Coterie in downtown Kokomo to help support the scholarship program at the Kokomo Family YMCA.
The Wildcat has prepared a delicious — and healthy! — dinner while the crew from The Larison Company will be slinging drinks. All tips and 50 percent of ticket sales go to Kokomo Family YMCA.
The Coterie is bringing in some great artists, including JM Lansdowne, Jason McKeever, Jerry James and Josh Mast.
Tickets are $50 and you can get them in advance at the Y. Want more details? Hit up Drew over at The Larison Company.

4) Quilts Along the Wildcat
The Kokomo Piecemakers Bi-Annual Quilt Show will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Kokomo Event Conference Center, 1500 Reed Road.
There will be gorgeous quilts on display and also the machines the works of art were created on. And if you’re a quilter yourself and not just a gawker (it’s OK. We can’t sew so we’ll be there as gawkers, too!), you can try equipment that you’ve had your eye on.
Need details? Unlike sewing skills, we got that. Find them here.

There you have it … one totally awesome weekend. Enjoy it!
