If you want to bring some spooky, handmade elegance to your home this Halloween, sign up for SHAK Makerspace’s Halloween stained glass workshops! Learn the process of stained glass while making one-of-a-kind Halloween decorations during these make and take classes.
The downtown creative space will be hosting two stained glass classes in October. The first will be a two-part Spider Web stained glass workshop on Oct. 12 and 19, where you can create a sparkling spider web-inspired design. To participate, you must attend both classes.
The second class is a Halloween stained glass workshop for beginners on Oct. 26. You can make classic spooky season designs such as pumpkins, ghosts, bats, and more. While it is labeled for beginners, it is open to any level of stained glass artists.
All classes will be taught by Jen Martin, a local art enthusiast and fellow SHAK creator. She will show you how to cut glass, grind it to fit, apply foil, solder, apply the wire stake, and how to take care of your creation afterwards. Closed-toed shoes are required. Safety gloves will be provided, but you can bring your own.
Space is limited for each class, so be sure to register at shakmakerspace.com.
