We’re posting our weekly Top Picks on Thursday because if you don’t start your fun Friday afternoon, you’re gonna miss some of this weekend’s planned awesomeness.
So, let’s jump right into Friday …
1) Strawberry Festival!
Amish-made shortcake, ice cream, strawberries and whipped cream piled high in a bowl. What could be better? Well, enjoying that strawberry shortcake out in the sun while listening to live music! And that’s what you’ll find at the 2017 Strawberry Festival coming to downtown Kokomo on Friday, June 2.
Sponsored by First Farmers Bank & Trust, the event will be 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on the Courthouse Square and will again this year partner with First Friday.
Tickets for strawberry shortcakes are just $5 while supplies last. And there will be plenty of supply. This year, organizers have ordered 3,900 pounds of strawberries, 130 gallons of ice cream, 525 cans of whipped cream and 6,800 shortcakes to meet the festival’s growing demand.
To that, we say, “Woah.”
There will be even more happening that evening as First Friday takes over the party at 5:30 p.m.

2) Russiaville Summer Fest
The fun starts at 3 p.m. Friday in Russiaville. That’s when the Prancing Ponies Petting Zoo starts … and also rides, foods and crafts. But let’s face it, we had you at Prancing Ponies Petting Zoo.
That evening brings a tractor pull and a performance by the Time Travelers, with even more fun in store for Saturday and Sunday — including town-wide garage sales, 5k, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, fish fry and much, much, much more.
